The Barn @ Downing Yudain

Water was the theme of the beautiful and serene exhibition that the Bruce Contemporaries had the chance to visit at The Barn @ Downing Yudain LLC on November 17. Featuring the works of artists Frances Ashforth and Susan Williams, the exhibition included a variety of paintings and monotypes. The Bruce Contemporaries were lucky enough to get the chance to meet Frances Ashforth and enjoy a fascinating conversation with Frances and gallery owner Lily Downing. They discussed Ashforth’s distinctive style and process – from how she created her monotypes on paper to her paintings which have shifted from being painted on panels to a relatively new type of paper created from recycled plastic called Yupo. The works in the show by both artists are oil on Yupo. Susan Williams is from Maine and California and Frances is local, living in Ridgefield.

The Barn @ Downing Yudain is a public exhibition space which generally hosts an array of living artists. Many of the exhibitions are inspired by helping our earth and climate.
