An Exclusive Behind-The-Scenes Tour

On Sunday, September 12, fourteen Bruce Contemporaries families enjoyed an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of the newly renovated New Bruce Permanent Science Galleries. Robert Wolterstorff, The Susan E. Lynch Executive Director, and Daniel Ksepka, the Curator of Science, walked small groups of Bruce Contemporaries families through the space while it is still under construction. During this exclusive sneak peek of the New Bruce Permanent Sciences Galleries: Natural Cycles Shape Our Land, everyone had the chance to see the fantastic new dinosaurs, fossils, live turtles and fish, dioramas, and more before the public opening on November 7.

3rd annual Sips on the Sound

“The perfect welcome-back party on the perfect summer evening!

This is how Bruce Contemporaries Committee Co-Chair, Grace Lockhart Djuranovic, described the third annual “Sips on the Sound” soirée on July  22nd, 2021.

And what a beautiful night it was. This year’s Sips on the Sound was the first in-person event held by the Contemporaries since February 2020. After a challenging year, the outdoor party, sold out and attended by seventy-five new and returning Bruce Contemporaries members, was hailed by all as a great success.

“This year’s Sips on the Sound is the beginning of a fantastic year for Contemporaries members,” Bruce Contemporaries Committee Co-Chair Asya Geller added. “Members should watch their inboxes closely for our forthcoming fall and winter season calendar.”

Sips on the Sound is celebrated each year at the Bruce Museum’s Seaside Center in Greenwich Point Park. Proceeds from the gathering and Contemporaries memberships help fund the year-round operations and educational programming offered by the Museum at the Seaside Center. This year, guests enjoyed cocktails on the beach provided by Horseneck Wine and Liquor, and sea-inspired bites from Fjord Catering.

We are grateful to all those who attended!

34th annual Bruce Museum Gala: Green Gala

On Saturday, June 12th, 2021, the 34th annual Bruce Museum Gala, themed the Green Gala, honored Susan E. Lynch, one of the Bruce Museum’s most dedicated and longtime friends. 250 guests were welcomed in-person, with even more joining virtually.

Co-Chaired by Bruce Contemporaries Shari Aser and Grace Lockhart Djuranovic, the Green Gala focused on the environment and sustainability. Thus, it was most fitting that the Green Gala took place outdoors at the Foundation House, a historic estate in backcountry Greenwich. The theme was inspired by the current Bruce Museum exhibition: The Amazon Rainforest: Beauty • Destruction • Hope (on view until October 10, 2021). The theme influenced gala planning from farm-to-table catering to decor to the suggestion that guests wear sustainable or recycled fashion.

The most important annual benefit for the Museum, this signature evening raises critical resources needed to support education programs for students throughout the region. Bruce Museum currently serves approximately 25,000 schoolchildren annually, with education programming for at-risk youth representing about 40% of in-house programming. Museum educators also work closely with many before/after-school programs and human service organizations throughout the community.

The Bruce Gala Committee included many Bruce Contemporaries, with special thanks to Katie Fong Biglin, Caitlin Davis, Asya Geller, Erin Glasebrook, Olivia Langston, Carol Ravera, and Amanda Armstrong Wilson. If you would like to volunteer for a committee role for future Bruce Galas, please reach out to us!
