Athena Books Event

On Tuesday, December 13, the Bruce Contemporaries held a holiday gathering centering on art and books at Athena Books in Old Greenwich. Philip Ruppel, COO of Phaidon Press, Ltd, sat in conversation with Dr. Caitlin Davis, founder and CEO of art advisory Warfield Eliot. Over light bites and libations, Mr. Ruppel and Dr. Davis spoke about the development of art and ‘coffee table’ books, how great artists’ works both past and present are channeled onto a page, and the challenges and triumphs of working in tandem with emerging artists. Guests and Contemporaries members took part in a Q&A about the intersection of art and books, and afterward mingled among the well-stocked and holiday-ready shelves, where 10% of the night’s book sales were donated to the Bruce Museum.
